The title challengers were looking for the final win at the Emirates in 2024, whilst Ipswich were on the lookout for their second North-London scalp of the campaign, having previously won away at Tottenham. The hosts came into the contest with the unenviable task of replacing the threat of Bukayo Saka after he picked up a serious injury during their 5-1 win over Crystal Palace. This allowed Leandro Trossard to return to the starting XI, with Gabriel Martinelli moving over to the right. The visitors, meanwhile, welcomed outcast Kalvin Phillips back into their line-up as they set up to try to stifle Mikel Arteta's Gunners. Sammie Szmodics nearly gave the Tractor Boys the perfect start after less than 30 seconds but spurned his chance. After sustained domination in the opening 20 minutes, the home side found the breakthrough thanks to a Kai Havertz tap-in following some brilliant work by Leandro Trossard on the left-hand side of the penalty area. The first half petered out, but the start of the second was a near repeat of what happened 45 minutes earlier, as Szmodics failed to shoot at an open goal after David Raya gave the ball away while standing 30 yards from his net. He will surely slot back onto the left-hand side when White returns, but there may be an argument to keep him on the right. A two vs one job for most of the night for Arsenal's two central defenders against Delap. Both Saliba and Gabriel did their jobs and prevented any genuine threat to their goal. No set-piece heroics from the Brazilian, but a solid defensive display nonetheless. Another start for the promising youngster at full-back as he looks to relive Bukayo Saka's early development in the Gunners first team. Comfortable on the ball and had next to nothing to deal with defensively as Omari Hutchinson offered little threat. A fairly standard Rice performance, even if it was rather subdued. Swept up play and started attacks as he so often does brilliantly, but much like others around him, he rather went through the motions. Neat and tidy but rarely went into second gear. When he did, you could see the fear in the Ipswich defence and it caused real problems. He may have been operating in a deeper role, but the German popped up like a poacher to give Arsenal the lead and gave his 12th goal of the season. Moved away from his more comfortable left wing position, Martinelli was again quiet and lacked much in the way of end product. After five goals in two games, it was no surprise to see Jesus leading the line once again. He had one goal chalked out for offside and was relatively laboured aside from that. Pressure was on the Belgian to replace the goals and assists of Saka, and he did exactly that with a brilliant assist for the opener, putting the ball on a plate for Havertz. In a game lacking inspiration, he was the man who provided the one real moment of quality. Ipswich Town Player Ratings Ipswich's defence did a relatively good job at keeping Arsenal at an arm's length, so Muric had little to do. Nothing could be done from his end to prevent the Havertz goal. When he was called into action, the Bosnian was reliable. Johnson struggled against the threat of Trossard, who was Arsenal's biggest outlet on the night. Taking the armband, O'Shea put in a respectable performance at the back and led the defence throughout. Marginally better than O'Shea was the central defender Woolfenden, who helped keep Jesus quiet. Of the three Ipswich central defenders, Greaves was the one who looked the most on edge. Understandable given that it was only his second appearance in five games. Davis was the man behind Ipswich's best chance early on, but was pinned back for the remainder of the game. Marshaled Martinelli reasonably well. If anyone was going to be a danger on the break for Ipswich, it would be Omari Hutchinson. Given his direct opponent was an out-of-position youngster, he might be frustrated he didn't get the chance to stamp his authority on the game. Phillips made his first Premier League start since the second of November as Kieran McKenna looked to sure up his midfield. To his credit, you can't fault the Manchester City loanee's effort as he made several clearances to ease the pressure on his team. The Swede was forced into a very similar job to his midfield partner, but was slightly less impressive with his efforts overall. Szmodics will not want to see his early chance again. At a minimum, he should've made contact with the ball. Got caught in possession deep in his own half multiple times. Just eight touches in the first half for Delap. That in itself summarises his game as the visitors couldn't get their frontman involved. When he was able to though there was some decent hold-up play. Man of the Match Truth be told, there weren't many standout performers on the night for either side, but the biggest consistent threat came down Arsenal's left. Leandro Trossard is a close runner-up for the award tonight, but instead we have opted for Myles Lewis-Skelly. The teenager kept his place at left-back over the likes of summer signing Riccardo Calafiori and could've easily been exposed by a talented Omari Hutchinson coming up against him. At both ends of the pitch, though, Lewis-Skelly had the better of the battle. He has shown maturity beyond his years and his development absolutely mimics Bukayo Saka. In the 1950s and 60s, Afghanistan was a must-visit on the overland hippie trail through Central Asia, but Afghanistan’s deep blue chain of Band-e Amir lakes , the high peaks of the Hindu Kush and the glittering turquoise domes of Mazar-i-Sharif’s Blue Mosque are currently unreachable for all save the most intrepid traveller. However, get a taste of the Central Asian country without breaching smarttraveller’s red-flagged, “Do not travel” warning. In fact, you don’t even have to leave Melbourne. Anything can happen, but food must not be short,” advises Romal. That principle is amply displayed at dinner at Afghan Kitchen, where trays jostle for table space, slow-cooked lamb shanks hidden in Uzbeki rice pilau, manto (beef dumplings), are doused in a tomato and lentil sauce and lashed with yoghurt, and borani banjan – fried eggplants in tomato sauce and garlic yogurt. Bread, half a metre long and grooved, is central to the table. The SEC Offensive Player of the Year announced on social media his intention Friday to leave after his junior season. He helped the seventh-ranked Vols go 10-3 with a first-round loss in the College Football Playoff where Sampson was limited by an injured hamstring. Sampson thanked his family, Tennessee coaches and fans, saying he learned so much and had the chance to be part of something special. Tennessee went 3-7 in 2020, and he leaves with the Vols having won 30 games over his three seasons. “I poured my heart and soul into this program and this community,” Sampson wrote. “With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.” Sampson set a school record running for 1,491 yards. Gorakhpur (UP), Nov 24 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said there are "individuals among us" who are secretly carrying out "anti-national" religious conversions and asked youngsters to be vigilant to put an end to it. Adityanath said this while addressing a special session on the closing day of the three-day 70th National Convention of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held at the Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University campus. Commending the efforts of Dipesh Nair, co-founder of NGO Teach and recipient of the Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Award, the chief minister shared an incident related to "anti-national" religious conversions involving deaf-and-mute children. He recounted that in 2019, following the arrest of two men under false identities for plotting the killing of a seer at a temple, a thorough probe revealed their ties to a religious preacher associated with Batla House in Delhi. Further probe uncovered that their ancestors had converted to Islam three generations ago, he said. Given the significance of the Batla House connection, especially after Delhi Police Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma was killed in an encounter with terrorists there in 2008, the probe was intensified. The investigation revealed that a major racket was being run from the Batla House area in the national capital, targeting deaf-and-mute children for religious conversion, Adityanath said. Similar cases were uncovered in Gurugram and Kanpur, where this conversion network had affected 500 families, he added. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader noted that in this case, the court sentenced seven people, including three key figures responsible for the conversions, to life imprisonment. Recounting this incident, Adityanath said, "There are individuals among us who are secretly carrying out anti-national conversions." He described such activities as the "business of service", emphasising that "it is not only the responsibility of the government or any organisation, but of every vigilant citizen to put an end to it". Referring to the ABVP's motto -- "Gyan, Sheel, Ekta (knowledge, modesty, unity)" -- the chief minister said no country in the world matches India's zeal for knowledge. It is said in the Bhagavad Gita that there is no other purifier in the world like knowledge. To become knowledgeable, the tradition of "rishis" who carried knowledge has been respected here, he added. "Youngsters should embrace science and technology to be able to navigate this dynamic era effectively. There is a need to harmonise knowledge and virtue with an awareness of the rapid advancements in science and technology. Failure to adapt could result in significant challenges and hardships," Adityanath said. He urged students to keep abreast of the times, adapting to technological advancements as the flow of time waits for none. Reflecting on the opposition to computerisation in the 1990s, the chief minister pointed out that while it was once resisted, today we live in an era dominated by e-offices and smartphones. Technologies like electricity, telephone, television, airplanes, microwave ovens, the internet, GPS and social media are part of our daily lives now, he noted. Adityanath said youngsters willing to serve the society and country can use technology to strengthen both. He cautioned them against becoming a victim of demonic mentality. Adityanath emphasised that technology becomes a tool for the public and national welfare in the hands of the virtuous. However, he added that in the hands of "negative people", it becomes a weapon to spread terror and unleash destructive forces. Citing the example of atomic power, he explained that when used properly, it can provide clean, affordable energy, but its misuse can lead to devastating destruction through atomic bombs. "By prioritising 'rashtradharma is supreme', we can pave the way for the welfare of humanity," Adityanath said. Imparting the mantra of national duty to youngsters, the chief minister also outlined the way to overcome obstacles in its path. He emphasised that the challenges facing national duty can only be met through unity. Adityanath highlighted the power of youth energy through examples from both the mythological and revolutionary eras. The chief minister said the ABVP is the world's largest youth organisation and a powerful platform that channels youth energy in the right direction. Citing the provision of 4 per cent reservation for the differently-abled and the recognition of 16 categories of disabilities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Adityanath highlighted that "Divyangjan" are making remarkable progress in every field today. He emphasised that talent is not determined by caste, opinion or religion and added that even if god has bestowed a deficiency on someone, he has compensated for it in other ways. China’s navy is already the world’s largest, and its shipbuilding capacity, estimated to be 230 times larger, dwarfs that of the U.S . Rep.
